To the Cheyenne River Youth Project!

Each year, the Cheyenne River Youth Project’s Cokata Wikoni Teen Center hosts Passion for Fashion, an event for high school girls on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation. The event helps girls who might not otherwise be able to attend the dance — perhaps due to financial restrictions, or perhaps they lack the confidence needed to try on a dress — by providing dresses, accessories, and makeup and hairstyling advice. The event is more than just dressing up though — the Cheyenne River Youth Project invites generations of positive women role models to come and help with the event, and a keynote speaker helps to spread the message of positive body image, and the importance of confidence.
